Mrs. Snider's Classroom Website

Welcome, Sharp Students and Parents!

Thank you for visiting my classroom website! My name is Mrs. Snider. I am a first-year teacher and recently graduated with my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education from Mid-America Christian University and completed Student Teaching in Newcastle, Oklahoma. You will see that I am more than dedicated to creating a learning atmosphere that helps my students realize their full potential. I live for moments spent in the classroom as my students and I learn, grow, and prepare our minds for the future, together.

"Children must be taught how to think, not what to think." - Margaret Mead

My Classroom:

My hope is to build positive, strong relationships with both parents and students. Questions and concerns are always welcome as the communication door is always open in my classroom. My students understand that we are a part of a community where the school family and classroom family stick together! As you will notice, our class theme is cactuses and succulent plants because the classroom is a place much like a garden in my opinion. Just as a gardener guides, waters, and takes care of their plants, as a teacher, my job is similar. I guide learning, pour knowledge into their growing minds, and nurture each students' diverse needs. There is nothing I love more than watching children grow in their knowledge, skills, and abilities; while also enjoying the educational process. My classroom is a place where students are challenged, will accomplish extraordinary things, and never give up. When our minds are put to the test, anything is possible and my students understand the importance of "try, try again."

Classroom Guidelines:

There are five classroom rules and one golden rule that students will be taught to follow:

1. Listen when the teacher is talking.

2. Follow directions quickly

3. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

4. Raise your hand to speak or stand.

5. Be safe, be kind, be honest.

Golden Rule: Treat others the way you want to be treated!

This year we will be using the Classroom Dojo point system where students will earn points for exceptional behavior and lose points as a consequence for poor behavior. For every five points, the students will receive a reward from the classroom treasure box! The students, parents and I will be involved through classroom dojo as we encourage the positive behavior that leads to preparing the future citizens of a better world.

Parent Resources:

READ, READ, READ!! 30 minutes of reading to your child each night is one of the best things you can do outside of the classroom.

Handwriting and Invented Spelling! Allow your students to write their names, draw you pictures of a story they create or even begin writing their own written language.
